Controlling a remotely located Robot using Hand Gestures in real time: A DSP implementation
Telepresence is a necessity for present time as we can't reach everywhere and
also it is useful in saving human life at dangerous places. A robot, which
could be controlled from a distant location, can solve these problems. This
could be via communication waves or networking methods. Also controlling should
be in real time and smooth so that it can actuate on every minor signal in an
effective way. This paper discusses a method to control a robot over the
network from a distant location. The robot was controlled by hand gestures
which were captured by the live camera. A DSP board TMS320DM642EVM was used to
implement image pre-processing and fastening the whole system. PCA was used for
gesture classification and robot actuation was done according to predefined
procedures. Classification information was sent over the network in the
experiment. This method is robust and could be used to control any kind of
robot over distance
Fluctuating Fuzzy Funnels
It is well known that a D-string ending on a D3, D5 or D7 brane is described
in terms of a non-commutative fuzzy funnel geometry. In this article, we give a
numerical study of the fluctuations about this leading geometry. This allows us
to investigate issues related to the stability and moduli space of these
solutions. We comment on the comparison to the linearized fluctuations in
supergravity.Comment: 24 pages, 3 figures; v2 references added and correcte
Combretastatin dinitrogen-substituted stilbene analogues as tubulin-binding and vascular-disrupting agents
Several stilbenoid compounds having structural similarity to the combretastatin group of natural products and characterized by the incorporation of two nitrogen-bearing groups (amine, nitro, serinamide) have been prepared by chemical synthesis and evaluated in terms of biochemical and biological activity. The 2',3'-diamino B-ring analogue 17 demonstrated remarkable cytotoxicity against selected human cancer cell lines in vitro (average GI(50) = 13.9 nM) and also showed good activity in regard to inhibition of tubulin assembly (IC50 = 2.8 mu M). In addition, a single dose (10 mg/kg) of compound 17 caused a 40% tumor-selective blood flow shutdown in tumor-bearing SCID mice at 24 h, thus suggesting the potential value of this compound and its corresponding salt formulations as new vascular-disrupting agents
